Job Description

The Research Specialist III, under general direction performs research work involving performance of assignments which may involve planning and directing certain phases of research project.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership for an effective chemical safety program of activities by implementing safety seminars.

  • Plan, implement and evaluate chemical safety and biosafety procedures for each research laboratory at CARC. Effectively report and interpret chemical safety rules.

  • Train students in performing assays, DNA isolation, as well as molecular biology experiments.

  • Assist in developing chemical safety procedures and work with each research scientist to ensure chemical safety procedures are being followed.

  • Maintains laboratory equipment and order supplies for research experiments.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Eight years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to lift moderately heavy objects. Ability to exert heavy force. Work beyond normal business hours and/or work on weekends.
