Research Specialist I/Ii

Overview

The Brooks Laboratory seeks a highly motivated Research Specialist I/II that will work full-time. This hire will genotype mice within own conventional mouse colony, assist with mouse experiments, and participate in lab maintenance. The work performed by this hire will be central to the core projects of the lab, and will result in co-authorship on high impact publications. This position is a one year term with the possibility of renewal.

Responsibilities

• Manage the conventional mouse colony.

• Genotype mice

• Setup breeding cages

• Assist with the execution of mouse experiments.

• In coordination with the members of the lab, the hire will assist in the infection of various mouse models, the examination of infection outcomes, and the setup of mouse experiments.

• Participate in lab maintenance

• The hire will assist in the ordering, shipping, and receiving of lab reagents/supplies.

• The hire will assist in the organization of lab supplies.

• The hire will be required to make buffers for lab use (PBS, TAE, SDS, etc.)

• Assist as needed with Germfree facility

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree / At least 1 year experience.

• Must be able to work at Princeton and Hopewell area

• Must be willing to work with mice

• Must be detail oriented and highly motivated

• Must be a back-up to Germ Free facilities

• Excellent written and oral English communication skills

• Ability to work independently

• Proven time management and organizational skills

• Intrinsically motivated by doing good work

• Independent thinker

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 2-3 years of molecular biology laboratory experience

• Previous experience with mouse colony management
