The Research Specialist will assist Dr. Aaron Spevack in producing deliverables for a large grant-funded project housed in NEJS. Their main tasks will include research in Arabic and English sources related to Islamic Theology as well as educational pedagogy, compiling databases of curricular materials, transcribing and summarizing recorded lectures, and writing specific essays and chapters under the direction of Dr. Spevack.

This is a one-year position until August 2025

Job Description:

  • Function 1: Research (Islamic theology, educational pedogogy) 35%

  • Function 2: Transcribing lectures, summarizing from different texts, translation, producing raw-materials for

  • writing projects 15%

  • Function 3: Writing essays / chapters for curriculum project 35%

  • Function 4: Attending curriculum development workshops, discussions, and meeetings 15%

Requirements:

  • Masters in Islamic Studies / Islamic Texts required

  • Ability to read classical Arabic theology and philosophy texts (dictionary assisted acceptable).

  • Excellent writing skills.
