VIEW JOBS 4/21/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-20T00:00 PATH is a global organization that works to accelerate health equity by bringing together public institutions, businesses, social enterprises, and investors to solve the world's most pressing health challenges. With expertise in science, health, economics, technology, advocacy, and dozens of other specialties, PATH develops and scales solutions—including vaccines, drugs, devices, diagnostics, and innovative approaches to strengthening health systems worldwide. PATH has a tremendous track record and technical leadership in vaccine development and introduction and has now created and branded a whole platform approach with significant core funding to be even more agile, responsive, effective, and sustainable in the Center for Vaccine Innovation and Access (CVIA). PATH's work on vaccine development and introduction encompasses activities including discovery, preclinical development, clinical research and development, process development and manufacturing, regulatory and vaccine introduction. Our portfolio currently encompasses over 25 candidates and vaccines in the following disease areas—Malaria, Enteric and Diarrheal Diseases, Polio, Respiratory Tract Infections and Meningitis, HPV and Vector-borne viral diseases (e.g., Japanese Encephalitis)—and in the cross-cutting area of Maternal Immunization. The development and introduction of a new vaccine requires a clear line of sight from the beginning of development through its use in target populations. This end-to-end thinking is critical to ensure the efficient and effective development of products that can create the greatest impact. The Public Health Value Proposition (VP) is one of CVIA's key tactical documents developed for each of our pipeline product candidates. The VP is designed to assist PATH in communicating to key stakeholders the value of a candidate in a broader context, throughout the development and introduction process. The document drives end to end thinking within our portfolio. The VP is updated regularly throughout the product's lifecycle, incorporating new evidence and considerations that most accurately reflect the overall value of the product to essential stakeholders. The Public Health Value Proposition Officer (VPO) will work with the Public Health VP Lead to help facilitate the VP drafting, review and updating processes. As the VP comprises a breadth of information regarding disease burden, clinical development, modelling of potential vaccine impact on disease and health economics, policy, market access, and implementation issues, the VPO will also work closely with PATH staff members and others with relevant expertise in each of these areas. Responsibilities * Collaborate with staff across CVIA to facilitate generation of Value Propositions/Business Cases and help drive clarity and consistency in project review and decision-making. * Work with the VP Lead in the planning for and creation of Value Propositions/Business Cases for projects across the CVIA Portfolio. This involves collaborating with others who are developing this content, but also summarizing and writing components of the VP, as well as developing content where necessary. * Keep Value Proposition Template and Guidance documentation up to date with input from teams, PAI colleagues, Disease Area Leaders and CVIA Leadership teams. * Advise on prioritization process for Value Propositions in partnership with VP Lead and Senior Project Manager for the Policy, Access, and Introduction group (AI) . * Mentor PAI and other CVIA staff working on value proposition activities. * Partner with CVIA Integrated Project & Portfolio Management (IPFM) Team to develop practices and processes that support Introduction Teams and late-stage Clinical Development teams. Required Experience * Demonstrated ability to evaluate, synthesize and articulate scientific and economic information utilized in the development of Value Propositions/Business Case documents for decision-making * Experience successfully working in a matrix organization * Minimum 5-10 years of work experience focused on vaccine development, biologics, or pharmaceutical industry, especially in helping to bring a product to licensure and beyond * Advanced degree in related discipline * Knowledge of multiple aspects of product development, access and introduction including epidemiology, clinical development, CMC, health economics, global policy, policy and market analysis, and market access, with expertise in at least one of these disciplines * Proficiency in English * Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% annually Also desirable: * Experience working on or leading teams that develop value dossiers for drugs or biologicals. Familiarity with donor-based funding and projects in middle and low-income countries preferred. Must have legal authorization to work in the United States. PATH is dedicated to building an inclusive workforce where diversity is valued. PATH is an equal opportunity employer. Every qualified applicant will be considered for employment. PATH does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, age, national origin, marital status, disability status, political ideology, military or protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law Path Washington DC
