Responsibilities

  • Lead multi-level product development projects or be a key member on large projects, carrying out assignments in a timely, diligent, safe and professional manner

  • Provide new product designs in an effective, timely and efficient manner while providing good technical decisions regarding process capabilities and customer expectations

  • Employ innovative approaches to short range problems and creative concepts for projects moderate in scope with broadly defined objectives

  • Serve as principle R&D scientist for a single or multiple product lines, conducting laboratory bench studies, process/production trials and product analysis

  • Document knowledge and report research and development work as required by R&D policy

  • Work extensively with internal Neenah teams: Global R&D, Sales & Marketing, Customer Service, Mfg., Procurement, including external customers and vendors

  • Contribute to consulting internally in areas of technical expertise across Neenah businesses

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Paper Science, Chemical Engineering or other related professional field

  • Minimum three to five years of product design, development and production implementation resulting in new and sustaining products generating new product sales

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written. Experience working directly with customers.

  • Demonstrated flexibility, ability to travel domestic and international, ability to work on multiple assignments

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with computer programs necessary for R&D documentation, reporting and communication

Neenah is growing and actively searching for a Process Engineer for our Munising Mill location. Candidate should have the education and technical skills to provide process, quality, and continuous improvement support for manufacturing activities throughout the facility. Ideal candidates have the attitude, initiative and excellent interpersonal skills to support Neenah's collaborative, high-achievement culture. Responsibilities * Provide leadership to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for employees * Conform to all applicable local, state, and federal laws governing loss control. * Support mill operations team to meet the goals that will ensure conformance to all customer requirements * Development and implementation of quality improvement projects that provide an overall improvement in customer satisfaction and mill performance * Development and implementation of cost improvement projects that provide significant savings through reduced variability, improved quality, product substitutions and/or higher operating efficiencies. * Carry out process improvement/optimization work including planning and supervising in-mill production trials. * Support mill operations in evaluating operation of major equipment. Lead design of modifications required to ensure improved quality and higher operating efficiencies. * Write technical reports that clearly document trials, process improvement results, and capture cause and effect relationships. * Utilize process information systems to analyze production trends; assist in troubleshooting and identify possible improvements. * Support development and execution of capital projects. * Use of DMAIC and lean manufacturing principles to drive cost and quality improvements * Direct interaction with vendors to continually drive quality and cost improvements of purchased materials. * Maintain effective communications and working relationships with operations, product development, suppliers, engineering, maintenance, IT, environmental, sales and marketing, research, and purchasing. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Paper Science, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or equivalent work experience * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written * Aptitude to develop technical expertise and the ability to efficiently and accurately process a high volume of detailed workload * Excellent computer skills (including Excel and Word) * Prior experience in initiating and implementing cost savings projects a distinct plus * Prior experience with lean manufacturing initiatives a distinct plus * Willingness to embody the Neenah culture of collaboration, challenge and support Neenah Paper, Inc Munising MI
