Discovery Sciences is a multi-faceted department which drives early drug discovery across AstraZeneca's global Research & Development portfolio. Mechanistic Biology & Profiling (part of Discovery Sciences), is a global, multidisciplinary department responsible for mechanism-of-action studies and compound profiling for efficacy and pre-clinical safety in support of the Oncology, Cardiovascular and Renal Disease, Respiratory, Inflammation & Autoimmunity, and Neuroscience portfolios.

As a Research Scientist, you provide support to local Oncology projects as part of a global Department, Mechanistic Biology and Profiling which is part of a global organization, Discovery Sciences that enables early phase drug discovery.
The Research Scientist as part of our DMTA (Design Make Test Analyze) team, provides biochemical data to local Oncology projects, enabling project teams to identify clinical candidates during the lead optimization phase of drug discovery. We are seeking a skilled and passionate lab-based scientist, with a detail-focus to produce high quality and impactful data, that advances projects on a tight timeline.
The position reports to directly to the US Associate Director of the Mechanistic Biology & Profiling Department.
Masters and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience or Bachelors with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
Experience must be gained in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry with proven experience in a quantitative biology-based discipline (enzymology, pharmacology,).
External reputation in enzymology gained through professional recognition, external presentation, publication in scientific journals.
Track record of delivering results across a diverse project portfolio.
Experience in pre-clinical drug discovery using automation platforms.
