We have an opportunity for a cell therapy scientist to join the Cell and Gene Therapy group within Oncology and contribute to developing pioneering CAR-T cell therapies. In this role, you will be a part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary discovery team interrogating unique cell therapy platforms and will generate data that increases our understanding of emerging CAR-T cell therapies. Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed in vitro characterization and testing of cell therapy products using protein and gene expression analysis.

  • Execute experiments, accurately record, analyze, and communicate data to senior staff and team members.

  • Work with other team members to test, optimize and advance new cellular therapies into early development.

  • Present results in team meetings and work collaboratively with other team members.

Role Requirements

Essential Requirements:

  • BS/MS degree in Biology-related or Engineering subject area with 2+ years of relevant biomedical research experience. Job title level will commensurate with experience.

  • Knowledge of immunology, cellular therapies, molecular biology and/or tumor immunology.

  • Understanding of ex-vivo cell-characterization by multi-color FACS and cytokine profiling (ELISA/MSD/Luminex), and gene expression analysis (qPCR, RNAseq).

  • Prior experience with immune cell isolation techniques and the culture of primary human T cells.

  • Strong verbal and writing skills for documentation of data, and communication of progress to manager and other team members.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment and adapt to changing directions/priorities.

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and perform in new areas, implement new techniques and instrumentation.

  • Scientifically self-motivated.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience with engineered T cell manufacturing and culture, including process optimization and functional testing of engineered T cells.

  • Familiarity with construct design and proficiency in related software.

Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $66,000 - $99,000/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
