SUMMARY
The Research Scientist in Dr. Jia Wu's lab is expected to apply technical expertise and experience to plan, coordinate, design, supervise and carry out research projects
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Research Coordination Plans, organizes, coordinates, directs and participates in scientific research projects. Assigns and reviews work of subordinates, determines specific goals or objectives to be attained,
Technical Expertise: The Research Scientist should have a profound understanding and practical experience in the specific domain of the research, including but not limited to radiomics, cancer biomarker development. Proficiency in laboratory techniques and instrumentation is essential, along with a demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex data.
Data preparation and analysis Evaluates resulting research data and revises techniques or approaches to work problems; Chart review for genomic typing, response and survival of lung cancer patients treated with various treatments. Data will be correlated with radiomics/histomics data; Compiles, writes and submits reports to superior.
Technical coordination of research equipment Supervises the design, development or adapting of equipment used in experiments or research to obtain desired results; Plans and supervises the training of technicians and other laboratory personnel with respect to proper laboratory techniques, the use of laboratory equipment and safety procedures.
Communication Skills: Effective communication is critical for this role. The Research Scientist must be able to articulate research findings clearly and concisely through written reports, publications, and presentations, especially in an interdisciplinary environment. They should also possess strong verbal communication skills to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences, including stakeholders, collaborators, and non-specialists.
REQUIREMENTS
Education: Masters degree in one of the natural sciences or related field

Experience: Four years of experience in experimental or scientific work.
Preferred Experience: With PhD, no experience required. With Medical degree, two years of experience in experimental or scientific work. Experience as medical oncologist, particularly thoracic oncologist is preferred.
