We seek a highly motivated and accomplished Research Scientist to join Discovery Biology team.
The candidate will be involved in designing, optimizing, establishing and executing a wide-range of biochemical and cell-based assays to support our preclinical drug discovery efforts in the areas of skeletal muscle contractility and metabolism.
The candidate will play an integral role in championing new projects and ideas for discovery of novel therapeutics, conduct research both working independently, and in a team-based setting
As a key team member, the candidate will provide regular project updates and progress in team meetings, providing scientific and technical guidance to advance programs
The position requires a PhD and Postdoctoral training in molecular and cell biology or related field with 0-3 years of experience in a biotechnology setting
Extensive knowledge and experience in the design, execution, and analysis of in vitro biochemical assays, as well as assays of myocyte function, metabolism, cell signaling (including Ca2+), and viability is required
Experience with quantitation and genetic manipulation of protein expression to create cellular models of human disease is required
Experience with energy metabolism and bioenergetics is preferred
Experience with cell culture, measurement of gene and protein expression, fluorescence microscopy, high content imaging and integration with image analysis software is preferred
Positive can-do attitude, strong organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, and flexibility are required
Enthusiasm for working in a team-based, multi-disciplinary environment, paired with excellent verbal and written communication skills, is required
