Your Role:

This scientist position will support efforts leading to the development of novel technologies, processes and reagents for cell therapy manufacturing. This hands-on position will provide cell culture and analysis expertise supporting technology and product development. The position involves working with a broad group of technical and non-technical personnel including scientists, engineers and business partners. The successful candidate will play an important role as an integral part of a dynamic and highly matrixed team in MilliporeSigma's Cell Therapy Bioprocessing group.

Who You Are:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Cell Biology or related life science field such as Biology, Microbiology
  • 2+ years of experience working in lab environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in cell culture media development and product development is preferred.

  • Solid experience and theoretical knowledge of analysis techniques: examples include microscopy, flow cytometry analysis, immunoassays, qPCR, ELISA.

  • Has experience with cell culture in bioreactor format.

  • Has experience with designing, executing and troubleshooting new protocols and assays.

  • Is expected to work safely and efficiently in the lab, plan schedules and arrange own activities to accomplish objectives with short deadlines.

  • Has the ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed team environment.

  • Background in cell culture techniques and demonstrated experience and knowledge of a variety of cell types, including stem cells and T cells.

Your focus will be to develop, validate and perform leachables/extractables methods for the determination of chemicals that can be released or migrate from disposable and filtration devices and other MilliporeSigma products using TOC, HPLC, GC, ICP, ion chromatography, LCMS, and other appropriate characterization techniques You will lead projects to establish methods for trace analysis to identify and quantify extractable and leachable species, as well as develop and validate methods for use in routine extractable testing. You will also perform analytical testing is support of ongoing research and development projects. You will participate on multi-disciplinary product development teams, will complete technical reports and external publication (as appropriate) and will present at national and international scientific conferences. You will be expected to work in the lab 50% of the time. Who You Are: Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelors or Masters in Chemistry with 10+ or 8+ years experience, respectively, in Extractables and Leachables Analysis. * Solid laboratory skills and a fundamental understanding of analytical, organic, and polymer chemistry as they relate to extractables and leachables. * Leadership capability to participate in multidisciplinary teamwork. * A strong background in developing and validating chromatographic methods utilizing HPLC, LC/MS and GC/MS and experience in the field of extractables and leachables are essential. * Excellent oral and written communication skills are also required.
