Meta is seeking an Applied Research Scientist to join our AI organization. Individuals in this role are expected to be recognized experts in areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, computational statistics, and applied mathematics, particularly including areas such as deep learning, graphical models, reinforcement learning, computer perception, natural language processing and data representation. The ideal candidate will have an interest in producing new science to understand intelligence and technology to make computers more intelligent, and an equal interest in taking new research findings in this area and implementing it towards production ready problems.

Research Scientist, Applied Computer Vision Responsibilities

  • Help advance the science and technology of intelligent machines

  • Contribute to research that enables learning the semantics of data (images, video, text, audio and other modalities)

  • Key contributor to papers/projects that hold a position towards remarkable contribution to both the field & company and that have general applicability

  • Work on a single large initiative or multiple projects of high complexity/scope where you can define a fairly clear long term objective with short and medium term sub-tasks as milestones

  • Independently lead projects and work cross-functionally to bring research advancements to production teams and Meta Products

  • Setting research direction that helps in the broader research program

  • Influence progress of relevant research communities by producing publications

  • Devise better data-driven models of human behavior

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience holding a faculty, industry, or government researcher position

  • Publications in machine learning, AI, computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, data science, or related technical fields

  • Experience leading a team in solving modeling problems using AI/ML approaches

  • Experience in applying research to production problems

  • Experience communicating research for public audiences of peers

  • Knowledge in a programming language

  • Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of work experience in a university, industry, or government lab(s), in a role with primary emphasis on AI research

  • Experience driving original scholarship in collaboration with a team

  • Experience showing first-author publications at peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, and ACL)

  • Experience in developing and debugging in C/C++, Python, or C#

Our team is expanding and we're looking for an experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) who will play a key role in defining and driving highly complex, cross-functional feature sets. We are looking for TPM with a proven track record of developing and shipping high quality computer vision/machine learning technologies, APIs, integrating them to products and experiences. This role will have the opportunity to work closely with world-class development teams and leaders across the organization to develop and deliver Avatar Representation technologies into Meta products (such as Meta Quest, etc.).</p><p>Technical Program Manager, Computer Vision Responsibilities</p><ul><li><p>Bootstrap programs in ambiguous areas, requires managing multiple cross-organizational or cross-company interdependencies.</p></li><li><p>Drive cross-organizational and portfolio partners to own and execute several large-scale workstreams to meet goals.</p></li><li><p>Understand technology requirements, roadmap, dependencies, evolution, and develop a plan for mitigating risks and delivering features that meet the requirements across multiple products.</p></li><li><p>Demonstrate end-to-end ownership and thought leadership across multiple organizations and influence strategic direction impacting long term plans.</p></li><li><p>Establish expertise in the technology area, becoming the go-to escalation point for execution, leader for driving visibility across the program, and orchestrator for managing the integration across your program area.</p></li><li><p>Effective at resolving intra-organizational issues and escalating/driving solutions to cross-organizational issues.</p></li><li><p>Drive technical excellence within the team, coordinating and contributing to engineering deliverables including architectural diagrams, specifications, launch criteria, and test plans.</p></li><li><p>Work cross-functionally to develop best practices and development processes in a quickly-changing and dynamic environment, drive impact through deployment of key initiatives and garner adoption of those processes.</p></li></ul><p>Minimum Qualifications</p><ul><li><p>B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.</p></li><li><p>10+ years of technical program management, software engineering, or systems engineering experience.</p></li><li><p>Experience building Computer Vision/Machine Learning technologies &amp; APIs, and shipping them into products.</p></li><li><p>Experience leading technology investments across multiple products or product families from innovation to delivery.</p></li><li><p>Demonstrated experience to lead execution across highly ambiguous, complex products and programs, with willingness to make technical and product tradeoffs balancing business needs and technical constraints.
