Minimum Qualifications A doctorate in the natural sciences and three years of professional research experience in an appropriate field; or a master's degree in a natural science and five years of such experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree, be licensed to practice in New York State, and be certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, or both by the American Board of Pathology or the American Osteopathic Board of Pathology. Alternatively, they may possess equivalent qualifications to those required for certification.
Duties Description A Research Scientist 5 is required to serve as the Wadsworth Center 's Clinical Laboratory Director. In this role, the Clinical Laboratory Director will oversee the operation and administration of the clinical laboratories located at three different sites in and around Albany, New York. Responsibilities include managing the employment of qualified personnel, ensuring proper delegation and performance of responsibilities, compliance with CLIA and New York State regulations, maintaining quality testing systems, and implementing a quality system approach to ensure accurate and reliable patient test results.
Additional Comments Dependent upon the initial assignment or subsequent reassignment of this position satisfactory background checks may be required. Additionally, exposure to potentially hazardous substances may be involved with this position; the selected candidate may be required to wear personal protective clothing and equipment and may undergo pre-employment and/or periodic health evaluations and receive specific immunizations.
