Department Overview
The mission of the Knight Clinical Research Management organization is to support the conduct of translational clinical research aimed at improving the lives of people and families with cancer by applying innovative strategies for cancer prevention, screening diagnosis and treatment. The support is provided through proactive, high quality and efficient study management in compliance with federal regulations and local policies and procedures. This fast-paced and highly intense research environment requires management of complex therapeutic interventional (TI) trials and clinical research studies involving a very vulnerable and sick population.
The Genitourinary Research team at OHSU focuses on non-prostate GU cancers: renal, bladder, penile, and testicular. The program is growing in studies and enrollments. We are working to serve our patient populations and bring them the best possible trials and treatment options. We have a mix of industry trials, cooperative group trials, and investigator initiated trials ranging from phase one trials for new treatments to sample collection studies to assess efficacy of drugs available as routine care. One of our investigators, Dr. Christopher Ryan, is a leader of the Southwest Oncology Group and an enthusiastic supporter of the cooperative group trials. We have a coordinator team lead and three coordinators, as well as two data managers and a regulatory coordinator to manage the trials and patients.
