Position Definition:

Researchers (from the San Francisco VA Medical Center; Northern California Institute for Research and Education (NOIRE); and University of California, San Francisco) are conducting multiple PTSD focused investigator-initiated research studies. The incumbent will serve as the Research Psychologist who will be responsible for conducting clinical interviews and providing training and supervision to research staff on assessment of PTSD.

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct & supervise the diagnostic psychiatric assessments to establish study eligibility and obtain baseline data

  • Assist with coding of psychotherapy sessions using standardized measures such as the Motivational Interviewing Skills Code (MISC) or the Motivational Interviewing Treatment Integrity (MITI) measure

  • Assist with use of software to transcribe audio and video sessions and double-check transcripts

  • Assist with hiring psychology technicians

  • Train and supervise psychology technicians

  • Review each diagnostic evaluation for completeness, discrepancies and other quality control

  • Establish and maintain an extensive library of psychological administered and self-report measures

  • Maintain essential research study documentation

  • Conduct an assessment consensus conference to maintain a system of calibration

  • Participate in data analysis and preparation of reports, grant proposals, manuscripts, and presentations

  • Perform other duties as assigned Requirements

    Job Requirements:
  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. degree in psychology required

  • Licensed as a Psychologist in California

  • Previous experience in research and diagnostic assessment

  • Knowledge in DSM-5 diagnoses is required

  • Has an understanding of GOP regulations, guidelines, policies and practices for conducting research investigations

  • Computer literacy with emphasis on Windows operating systems and software applications

  • Strong interpersonal, written/oral communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks and priorities to achieve desired goals

  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
