Research Project Manager

Job Summary

The Department of Psychiatry seeks an individual to be responsible for research study protocol implementation, research subject recruitment, coordination and database management for a multi-year research study.

This individual will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of a multi-site suicide prevention intervention study focused on young adults. Reporting to the Principal Investigator (PI), this individual will be responsible for all phases of project activities, including overseeing data collection and management using electronic data collection methods, communicating with sites, coordination data collection, assisting with staff supervision, interacting with study participants and community partners, and managing any crises or safety events related to participants under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) will involve scheduling research subjects for assessments and tests according to established protocols, reporting and tracking the study progression for those research subjects, and being able to explain the study protocols to ensure research subjects fully understand.

This individual will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) and the assigned Research Coordinator on the administration and collection of assessments and surveys and other research-related tasks. Regulatory documentation responsibilities include preparation of annual reports and regulatory documentation for clinical staff and IRB review and analysis including management of IRB protocol documentation. Prior experience working with research subjects and research projects is essential.

This position will be located in the Department of Psychiatry's research department which is located near the Hamburg area of Lexington at 245 Fountain Ct., Lexington, KY, 40509. This off-campus location provides free onsite parking for employees and research subjects as well as the Department of Psychiatry's ambulatory clinic, primary care/urgent care clinic and a retail pharmacy that is accessible by patients, research subjects and employees.

Position will require regular, full-time in-person work at Fountain Court with occasional remote work available.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Demonstrated strong organizational skills and experience with REDCap. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to discuss personal topics with participants in a compassionate, sensitive manner. Demonstrated detail orientation, ability to follow-through, and strong problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn other technologies, as necessary. Ability to work independently and on a team.

Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? Yes Preferred Education/Experience

Master's degree and at least 4 years of responsible level experience with study coordination or experience working in a mental health setting.

Experience working with diverse populations, young adults, and/or suicide prevention experience and licensed as a mental health professional. Experience using virtual communication technology (ex:

Zoom), electronic data collection technology, and data analytic software (ex: Nvivo, SPSS).
