Schedule: 40 hours per week

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for overseeing a portfolio of research projects. Research studies will focus on the major responsibilities of managing the grant-funded research projects include working with the study team to develop study protocols, assessment instruments, and Institutional Review Board protocols; monitor study implementation; assist with manuscripts and presentations; ensure compliance with reporting to NIH, and to coordinate new grant applications. Will monitor budgets and spending and coordinate contracts with independent consults and subcontractors. May be responsible for hiring and supervising any research support staff working on a full time, part time, or temporary basis.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with Principal Investigators to select the most appropriate methodology and techniques for facilitating the research, and coordinates and facilitates the research project management life cycle, including initiation, development, and implementation of various complex experimentation projects.

  • Coordinates research teams, and manages research project timelines, to ensure research trials or milestones are completed within the specified timeline.

  • Responsible for scoping, coordinating research activities, training research staff, and managing the completion of investigational forms.

  • Responsible for the completion of both research and project management deliverables, including project plans and research schedules, competitive intelligence reports, progress reports and investigational applications.

OTHER

  • Supervise and train support staff (e.g., Research Coordinators, Research Assistants, etc.), including training, delegating tasks, overseeing daily activities, mentoring, guiding through demonstration of best practices and offering opportunities for professional development.

  • Oversees and performs administrative duties including scheduling meetings, planning agendas, manages purchasing, invoices and accounts payable

  • Works with research team to facilitate & ensure protocol adherence, quality assurance and HIPAA compliance, and liaisons with Institutional Review Board (IRB) for submissions, correspondence, and regulatory binders, including administrative amendments.

  • Collects data, summarizes and interprets research data and collaborates with Principal Investigators to author journal articles and to present findings at research seminars, study groups and conferences

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

  • Master's degree in related field (may consider candidates with Bachelor's degree who have at least 6 years directly related research and/or clinical experience).

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of three years' experience in clinical research, public health, health care administration and/or related field, including experience managing projects and operations.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Must be highly organized and detail-oriented, have exceptional oral communications and writing skills.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in project management, including budgeting, planning, execution, delivery, quality assurance, and reporting.

  • Experience with IRB submissions and protocols

  • Personnel management experience, including demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff and major projects or initiatives

  • The ability to delegate tasks efficiently among team members and anticipate needs

  • Cultural sensitivity and comfort with a wide range of social, racial and ethnic populations.

  • Knowledge of MS Office applications, database systems. Experience in data analysis and manuscript preparation is helpful.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management, including budgeting, planning, execution, delivery, quality assurance, and reporting.
