Job Summary: The Research Project Coordinator supports the overall development of research project (s). Assists with project design, management, and implementation.

Promotes the project and serves as liaison between the project and contacts internal and external to the University. May supervise students, provide general office assistance, create promotional materials, and assist in the development of other potential projects.

Additional Department Summary: Project Zero Suicide in Alabama is implementing - the Zero Suicide Model of Care - multilevel evidence-based suicide prevention practices to clinical care with individuals who are 18 years of age or older in rural and underserved Cullman County.

The project will increase access to universal suicide screening for adults in public health care settings, improve patient outcomes among adults, including veterans, with a risk of suicide, and increase education and training of professionals to better assess, engage, treat, and transition those with identified suicide risk. The clinical implementation project will occur in Cullman County, and eight additional counties have been identified to receive suicide prevention training: Clay, Marion, Henry, Chambers, Covington, Winston, Conecuh, and Chilton.

The Research Project Coordinator supports the development and coordination of community development programs, training programs, and provides technical assistance to both internal and external community partners. Additionally, the coordinator will support grant-related activities of Zero Suicide to coordinate all training and outreach related activities.

Assist the Project Director in communicating with local and statewide boards. Maintain and coordinate the project's social media efforts alongside the VitAL Marketing Manager. This position involves a high degree of complexity and creative thinking skills and a foundation of suicide prevention, clinical mental health, and substance use knowledge. The coordinator is responsible for communication of health needs, concerns, and resources; providing health education/promotion programs in the targeted communities and Zero Suicide and EBP training.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher and some experience coordinating projects.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license.

Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Skills and Knowledge: Strong organizational skills as evidenced by work history.

Able to work independently using sound judgment and solid decision-making skills to solve problems and to work through barriers that may impact progress. Program evaluation or applied research expertise. Experience with basic office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in a health-related field, including applied behavioral sciences, psychology, or social work and three (3) years of experience in project development administration. Suicide prevention and behavioral health program experience.
