Overview

The Research Program Manager administers and coordinates all technical, financial, procurement and training activities of the Core Facility. Primary duties include overseeing the day-to-day operation of the facility. The Research Program Manager will also operate the core instrumentation, analyzing data related to customer requests for internal and external research projects.

Salary is based on experience

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Director of Core Facility.

  • Manage and operate core facility and supply center utilized by over 100 internal and external researchers. Maintains and operates core instruments, analysis requiring specialized training analyzing and interpreting results.

  • Develop all new protocols and methods for operating, maintaining and improving data analysis and daily operation of the core.

  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships and collaborations with all researchers utilizing the core facility.

  • Proficient in multiple analysis software.

  • Perform data analysis of samples and prepare data for publication and presentations.

  • Educate researchers on interpretation of data. Discuss and evaluate results with researchers and troubleshoot with researchers to improve methods and results.

  • Provide consultation for experimental design for facility.

  • Prepare invoices for services rendered and enter into customer database to track researcher usage andneeds.

  • Maintain an on-line scheduling system for appointments and analysis.

  • Manage and operate campus-wide supply center supplying 125 different research items to researchers.

  • Invoice customers for supplies purchased.

  • Maintain a supply cabinet business of $100,000+ per year of invoiced supplies.

  • Other related duties and travel as required or assigned.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, and/or statistics in a field directly related to to research plus 3 years of research experience OR Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, and/or statistics in a field directly related to research plus 5 years of research experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Specialized formal training on Flow Cytometry or DNA Sequencing instruments.

  • 5 years' experience operating a flow cytometer or sequencing instrumentation.

  • Knowledge of software and experience analyzing and interpreting data using various flow cytometry/sequencing software programs.
