Job Summary

The Research Program Manager I (RPM) will be responsible for managing research-related activities for Dr. Melinda Kavanaugh, Associate Professor in Social Work. Dr. Kavanaugh's research primarily focuses on youth caregivers, but extends to the impacts of opioids, school-based youth supports and professional education activities. This position will serve as research program manager for the various projects and contracts under the purview of Dr. Kavanaugh's research portfolio. The RPM will coordinate research activities, manage budgets and provide project management. In addition to meeting all of the minimum qualifications and most, if not all, of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will be comfortable learning new software, such as online survey applications.

Program Management and Administration (70%)

  • Coordinate and maintain all IRB protocols.

  • Participate in collaborative group activities, including scientific and administrative committees, conference calls, workgroups, and publications and reports.

  • Assist in the creation and submission of progress reports.

  • Oversee Research Assistants (RAs) who assist in data collection.

  • Manage and oversee budgets, and meetings across projects

  • Manage and coordinate study travel, including submission of travel reimbursements

Data Acquisition, Management and Collection (30%)

  • Oversee participant recruitment, data collection, and data entry.

  • Work with research team members to organize internal processes to track participants across projects.

  • Schedule and facilitate calls with funders and organizations relating to the projects.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with budgets and funder progress reports

  • Strong communication skills as evidenced by well-written submitted application materials.

  • Experience conducting interviews, surveys, or similar outreach with vulnerable populations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong verbal communications skills

  • Experience with Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements and submissions.

  • Experience with statistical analyses is a plus (Knowledge of SPSS, MS Excel, MS Access)

  • Previous supervisory experience.
