Job SummaryJoin UT Southwestern as a Research Program Manager in the Cell Biology department. The Research Program Manager will provide grants management expertise to the department and supervision of other grants personnel. We're proud to support your next mission.Ranked by Forbes as one of the Top 10 National Employers, we invite you to be a part of the UT Southwestern team where you'll discover teamwork, professionalism, and consistent opportunities for growth.Required Experience and Education * Bachelor's degree in science, finance, or related field and four (4) years related experience in research, research administration or non-profit administration. * Must be familiar with NIH research grant preparation and management. * Requires advanced PC expertise including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database software. * Prior experience related to research administration is strongly preferred. * Master's degree preferred.Job Duties * Supports research by developing and enhancing shared facilities and programs; develops and implements procedures to optimize operations and resource utilization; tracks, evaluates, and reports progress of shared resources.*
  • Assists with strategic development of new research programs and initiatives; oversees sponsored research operations, and research compliance. * Collaborate with PIs, Research, Administrative and Scientific staff to prepare all types of grant applications * Create sponsored budgets and budget justifications and consider specific guidelines, formats, UTSW salaries and internal and outsourced service costs for all activities * Interface with and assist sub-recipients and their external Research administrators in preparation of their pre-award application packets and related activities * Review final grant application drafts for accuracy, content, adherence to all relevant guidelines (i.e. OMB Uniform Guidance, Administrative Requirements & Cost Principles)* Secure all internal Institutional approvals prior to submission * Upload documents and compile grant applications using sponsor's online platforms (i.e. NIH/ASSIST, Proposal Central, etc.) and submit applications * Assist PI's in JIT submission*
  • Review all notices of grants awards from sponsor, inform PI's and department Accountant on any special requirements * Work with Sponsored Program Administration to setup sub-agreement documentation * Ensure compliance in all other areas related to grant and contract management * Review awarded grants to compile resource requests, service and equipment needs * Work closely with PI's and Department Accountant to sustain complex database excel spreadsheets*
  • Work with Department Accountant to perform account reconciliation, including monthly variance reports on research actual results in addition to Salary & Wage Confirmation as required by Institution guidelines * Work with Department Account on Re-budgeting needs for monthly or as needed * Determine updated monthly accruals and projections to support forecasting accuracy and project completion, as required with Department Accountant * Assist in preparation and submission of progress reports and facilitate financial reports with Post Award Administration * Promotes collaboration among investigators and across disciplines, departments and institutions; organizes meetings, seminars and conferences; manages internal and external communications of the department; oversees information services group in developing web-based research collaboration tools and databases.*
  • Keep abreast on laws and regulations that apply to sponsored projects and designated funds * Provide guidance regarding the interpretation of applicable contract, grant and cooperative agreement terms and conditions * Assist with some aspects of non-sponsored funds (i.e. Endowment & Scholar Accounts)* Performs other duties as needed.This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information.UT Southwestern Medical Center is committed to an educational and working environment that provides equal opportunity to all members of the University community.
