Summary

Using a bachelor's degree with a strong background in a research methodology, the Project Associate I (PAI) assists in the coordination and management of project teams, collects and inputs data, develops metrics, and creates reports and training materials in support of the Program Management group.

Responsibilities

  • Teams: Provides overall support to a given functional area which may include meeting and travel logistics as well as the creation of templates, working and best practices, tracking and monitoring tools and general training support.

  • Planning and Tracking: Utilizes project management techniques to identify, develop and maintain planning tools in support of the assigned project (s) in order to facilitate standardization and coordination. Develops good communication and working relationships with project leaders, managers and individuals within each project team.

  • Collaborations: Supports and coordinates collaboration meetings. Keeps track of Collaborations in a tracking system.

  • Information: Supports the implementation and administration of tools used by the assigned functional area. Develops and maintains the folder / organizational structure of shared databases, develops and supports SOP's, and processes for managing user requests, training, security matrices, etc.

  • Communication: Works with Program Management members to streamline the process for updating and finalizing various deliverables: action item/decision logs, meeting minutes, weekly meeting schedules, project plans, presentation materials, etc.

  • Process Improvement: Identifies, creates, and maintains tools and templates to standardize and optimize processes in support of Program Management. Maintains and organizes accurate records and archive on shared sites. Generates business process documentation.

  • Training: Supports, creates and compiles training materials for new tools created and supported by the department.

  • System Support: Migrates data and files for newly implemented systems, generates dashboards updates/reports.

Requirements

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of research methodology, data collection and reporting.

  • Knowledge of basic Project Management techniques.

  • Core competencies: Demonstrates excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with team members with tact and diplomacy. Handles multiple priorities with excellent time management skills (both project and self).

  • Proficient in relevant software: Word, Excel and PowerPoint in addition to general knowledge with shared work environments.

Supervision: Reports to a supervisor.

Education and Experience: BS plus 0 - 2 years working experience.

Summary Using scientific expertise and project management knowledge and experience, the Manager, Research Program Management plans, coordinates, and leads cross-functional and operational aspects of the drug discovery process, from early-discovery through early clinical development. A key responsibility is to support the Ophthalmology Therapeutic Focus Area where a diverse set of technologies and approaches are being explored to identify new targets and to develop strategies for treating ophthalmologic diseases. Responsibilities Drug and Technology Discovery & Development: Uses knowledge and experience in drug discovery and technology to steer and enable cross-functional teams to achieve key program objectives. In collaboration other senior group members, formulates key program deliverables and implements operational practices to achieve these deliverables. Team Management: Ensures effective, accurate, appropriate and timely communication across functional areas within the project. Serves as point of contact for management within and outside the team regarding progress and alignment with the program goals. Uses relevant working knowledge and experience to devise templates, working and best practices, and tracking and monitoring tools. Planning, Tracking & Project Reporting: Develops, maintains and updates integrated project plans relevant to team objectives and ensures alignment across functions and with management. Maintains knowledge of key data and milestones for assigned projects and serves as a contact for information and updates. Provides project summaries and general guidelines to support presentations to senior management and collaborators as needed. Process and Data Management: Manages and updates tools and program content to track projects and to promote a collaborative environment of scientific information exchange. Ensures effective, accurate and timely communication within the department or functional area. Defines and documents best practices and procedures by performing analyses and preparing recommendations. Identifies, develops and supports continuous improvement processes.
