Position Primary Purpose:

The VCU School of Nursing is seeking applicants for the Research Program Coordinator position. This position provides research administrative support to the Associate Dean for Research, Scholarship, and Innovation (ADR), and the Office of Research Scholarship, and Innovation (ORSI).

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage the ADR's calendar, handling all scheduling, meeting requests, invitations, and events, while prioritizing urgent and strategic engagements to ensure optimal use of the ADR's time and resources.

  • Prepare and distribute materials for the ADR's external committee commitments, ensuring timely delivery and accuracy.

  • Assists with coordination of the SON Fellow Program.

  • Assist with editing and preparing reports to be distributed to the VCU School of Nursing (SON), VCU Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation ((OVPRI), grant sponsors, etc.

  • Assist with abstract submissions.

  • Assist with manuscript preparation and submission (references, formatting, uploading).

  • Assist with grant preparation.

  • Assist with preparation and maintenance of grant resources (templates, documents).

  • Assist with technical details for VCUHS requirements.

  • Organize events such as Visiting Research Faculty, Speaker Series, Research Weeks, including logistic management of location, technology setup, and participation coordination.

  • Provide administrative support to the Biobehavioral Research Lab (BRL).

  • Assist the ADR with processing appropriate and timely membership renewals, travel arrangements, and conference registrations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful work experience demonstrating either effective project management or management of multiple

complex tasks.

  • Attention to detail, good written/verbal communication and analytical skills.

  • Ability to understand and interpret university policies and procedures.

  • Excellent analytical skills; demonstrated expertise in relevant computer software programs including Windows operating system, Microsoft Office, Google, email, and calendar programs.

  • Ability to work well independently or as part of a team, establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with colleagues.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Excellent oral, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Sets priorities and meets deadlines in a high-paced environment with multiple competing demands and multiple constituents.

  • Proficient in accessing resources via the internet.

  • Identify and meet continuous quality improvement needs.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in a related field, or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training

  • Experience working in a research environment
