Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
The applicant will be trained to work mostly independently to design and research projects. The applicant will provide supervision and guidance for students and other personnel.
Work involves 1) characterization of RSV vaccines, 2) design, and optimization of experiments for analysis, and 3) optimization of assays to better understand host responses to inflammation and viral disease.
Performance differs from a technician in planning and executing complex experiments, analyzing data, and applying theoretical concepts.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Will perform sterile techniques, follow existing lab SOPs.
Have good communication.
Willingness to learn and develop new competencies.

Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
Lifting up to 40 lbs. unassisted.

Planning and executing data analysis and summarizing results.
Characterization of vaccine candidates.
Optimization of RSV immunogens and adjuvants.
Design and optimization of experiments to analyze vaccine outcomes.
Execution of various assays to evaluate outcomes.
Molecular biology optimization.
Response to emerging infectious diseases.
Percentage of time 60 Duties/Responsibilities
Laboratory management.
Establishing and editing SOPs.
Providing guidance on SOPs.
Aiding and performing autoclaving,
Glass washing, stock ordering, inventory organization, preparation of solutions, and equipment maintenance.
Provides training to graduate students and others in these areas.
