Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
This research professional position will work together with the principal investigator to develop research project plans. It will also lead activities including cell culture, surgery, MRI, motor function testing, and behavior testing and will also work with collected tissues to perform DNA, RNA, and protein analysis utilizing various techniques. This individual will assist in basic data organization, analysis, and interpretation and will work together with the PI to write reports and findings from these research projects. The research professional will be responsible for the basic organization of the laboratory supplies and equipment and ensuring equipment is maintained and in working order. The position will also be responsible for animal record keeping, records for staff safety compliance, and the development of animal use protocols.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Work with scientists and students in an animal research setting.
Good organizational skills needed to maintain proper records.
Use computer programs that are involved with record keeping.
Experience with Microsoft Office word processing and spreadsheets (e.g. Word, Excel).
Strong management and organizational skills, detailed oriented, hardworking, and self-motivated.
Physical Demands
Standing, lifting, enduring outside and/or inside elements for extended periods of time.
Lift up to 50lbs.
Minimal lifting/bending in the normal operations of a typical office/lab environment.
Travel to/from multiple locations as required for job duties.
Driving as needed to perform job duties.

Conduct research in the lab:
Lead activities including animal research activities such as surgery, MRI, motor function testing, social recognition testing, novel object recognition testing, open field testing.
Perform tissue analysis including DNA, RNA, and protein isolation and quantification, ELISAs, western blots, real time RT-PCR, RNA sequencing, and immunohistochemistry.
Perform cell culture, immunocytochemistry, flow cytometry, transductions, transfections, and multielectrode array assays.
Basic organization of the laboratory supplies and equipment and ensuring equipment is maintained and in working order.
Percentage of time 70 Duties/Responsibilities
Data analysis, interpretation, and communication:
Assist in basic data organization, analysis, and interpretation and work with the PIs to write abstracts, reports, and manuscripts based on findings from research projects.
Responsible for animal record keeping, records for staff safety compliance, and the development of animal use protocols.
