Job Overview

The College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, is currently accepting applications for a full time Research Manager to assist with education-related research specific to infectious diseases clinical education and graduate-level research education. With limited supervision, plan, evaluate, conduct, coordinate and/or manage elements of multiple or complex education research and quality improvement projects for medical and graduate research programs. Mentor level 1 or 2 employees. Duties can span a broad range of activities or be primarily focused within one or more areas of the education research spectrum.

The faculty of the Division of Infectious Diseases is among the national leaders in basic science research in infectious diseases, the care of patients with HIV infections, tuberculosis and global health clinical care, education and research.

The position is located at the Medical Sciences Building, 231 Albert Sabin Way, Cincinnati, OH 45229.

Essential Functions

  • Perform and oversee innovative module and education platform development, with particular emphasis on instructional design and accessibility features.

  • Act within a multidisciplinary team to assist with study design and protocol review in order to establish education research proposals and determine study feasibility.

  • Consult with medical and graduate educators, clinical and scientific content experts, and trainees to optimize learning and assessment operations and outcomes.

  • Working with PI, act as a liaison with education staff to guide and observe implementation of novel education initiatives.

  • Coordinate with regulatory teams to facilitate oversight and adherence to IRB guidance for education-related research and quality improvement.

  • Perform quality checks on data entered by others.

  • Database creation, testing, and basic maintenance.

  • Attends meetings as assigned.

  • Completes continuing education and training programs as assigned on continual basis.

  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

Bachelor's Degree is required and must be in a related field (department will define related field).

Required Experience

Four (4) years of experience in an academic, government, or private-sector research, staff, and/or administrative position.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Doctoral degree in education-related field.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Instructional design and technology/innovation experience ideal.

  • Proficiency in various computer and software applications ideal, including but not limited to: Learning Management Systems (Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle), course authoring (Storyline 360, Adobe Captivate), Learning technologies (Kaltura, MS Office 365, Zoom, etc), and content authoring (Adobe Primer, WeVideo, Soundtrap, Audacity, etc).

  • Experience in course review and instructor coaching for in-person, hybrid, or online courses in higher education.

  • Experience collaborating with teams made up of content experts is ideal.
