Cox Automotive is currently looking for a Research Manager to join our team in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Research Manager Research & Market Intelligence is responsible for providing research management and process leadership as well as executing higher complexity projects in support of company-wide primary research initiatives. This person is responsible for the implementation of the research project workflow process, resource and vendor management, program and demand management processes working with the Client Service Team to rationalize business priorities. This role will apply a mix of quantitative and qualitative research management. The Research Manager will be responsible for managing vendor relationships for both qualitative and quantitative projects (30/70 mix) respectively. From time to time, the Research manager may be asked to moderate focus groups and conduct qualitative interviews with both BtoB and BtoC audiences. This person will be responsible for data aggregation and analysis and the synthesis of insights into actionable deliverables.
This position reports to the Senior Manager, Research & Market Intelligence in the Marketing Department.
Manage the project lifecycle and prioritization process for studies that you're assigned:
Define, plan, organize, monitor and oversee project in accordance to business requirements, objectives and priorities.
Organize the work and determine the most effective approach to completing the work, including appropriate resource needs and program budgets.
Serve as key consultant and trusted advisor on research methodologies to Client Services team.
Deliver defined project output to Client Services team on time, within budget and with quality results.
Analyze risks, establish contingency plan and identify trigger events for initiating action and mitigating complications.
Proactively manage change to baseline scope, schedule and cost variables, communicating impacts and facilitating decisions.
Utilize a variety of quantitative research techniques (segmentation, brand tracking, concept testing, etc.)
Utilize a variety of qualitative research techniques (in-depth interviews, focus groups, online, etc.), whether applying these skills directly or managing vendor execution
Connect findings to other research results (qualitative or quantitative) secondary information, other internal data or business KPIs as appropriate.
Package findings in a clear, concise fashion ensuring key business questions are adequately answered.
Require in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines
Works/solves problems of complex scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors
Works independently with limited supervision; uses independent thought, conducts analysis and makes recommendations to management
Displays best-in-service qualities when working with the R&MI team and internal partners.
Help implement Research Center of Excellence processes and operational best practices.
Establish and maintain a tight working partnership with the Research & Market Intelligence (Client Services) team.
Produce and maintain appropriate project documentation for all research initiatives managed by the Research COE team and across the department.
Manage vendor evaluation and management efforts, including but not limited to vendor capabilities assessment, contract negotiations and ongoing vendor review efforts.
Proactively stay abreast of latest research approaches, methodologies and trends (including participation in research industry and Research association events) providing regular updates to Research team at large.
The preferred candidate will have established primary research experience, including program management, vendor management, contract negotiation and process management leadership experience with demonstrated success building organizational excellence through program management, process design, resource management, risk mitigation and capacity planning in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. This role requires both quantitative and qualitative skills, and the candidate must have moderating and interviewing experience.
5 years program management experience in delivering large-scale projects; experience must cover all phases of a project lifecycle (Discovery, Definition/Design, Development/Testing, Fielding, Delivery and Post-Implementation Support).
Knowledge of and competency in PMI-based project management processes, including planning, risk management, issues management, time management and financial management.
5 years of primary research experience with BtoB and BtoC qualitative and quantitative primary research methods including, but not limited to:
Brand Positioning & Tracking Research
A/B site testing
Attitudes and Usage studies
5 years of experience in moderating BtoB and BtoC focus groups and conducting qualitative interviews
Automotive experience preferred but not essential
Vendor-side experience highly preferred
Strong analytical skills:

Distill data/information into a concise story, with the ability to creatively tell the story through visuals.
A compulsive deep diver: naturally nosy, with a love for going beyond the obvious and the mental agility to look for the best solutions from multiple perspectives.
Superb organizer: always on top of the detail, proactive, forward-thinking with exceptionally good project and team management skills.
Experience in writing and managing business requirements, project plans, communication plans and other project documentation.
Experience in simultaneously managing clients, projects and vendors a must.
Strong MS Office skills required, with strong Excel and Powerpoint skills deemed essential.
Bachelor's degree Business Administration, Marketing, and/or Statistics preferred. (MBA, MMR or other advanced degree a plus.) In lieu of a degree, education and work experience will be considered.
