Job Summary

This opening is for a full-time Research Assistant to conduct experimental work in a cancer immunotherapy research laboratory in the Department of Surgery. The laboratory is located in the Rogel Cancer Center. We are looking for a motivated researcher who has an interest in tumor immunology and cancer immunotherapy. The current direction of the lab is to generate tumor reactive T effector cells and B effector cells for adoptive cancer immunotherapy, and to develop cancer stem cell-targeted vaccine for cancer immunotherapy, in order to facilitate future clinical trials to treat cancer patients.

Responsibilities*

The applicant is required to function as a Research Assistant in a cancer immunotherapy research laboratory. The applicant is expected to work fairly independently with the principal investigator and with our collaborators to carry out the following duties:

  • Use innovative techniques to characterize anti-tumor immune cells, including isolation of lymphocytes, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, multicolor flow cytometry, and FACS sorting et al.

  • Conduct animal and laboratory experiments, collect and analyze data, and develop new and/or revised research methodologies

  • Disseminate information to laboratory staff through data presentation and assistance with the preparation of abstracts, manuscripts and grant writing

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor's Degree is required. 1-2 years of working experience in immunology or cancer related field is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Desired Qualifications*

Master's Degree preferred. Preferred are candidates with prior laboratory experience at a research university in the United States.
