General Summary/Overview Statement
Under supervision of Principal Investigators/Directors in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures and specific instructions, will perform routine and non-routine laboratory procedures, record tests, assist in laboratory management and safety, affirm compliance with the hospital, state, and federal regulations, and maintain equipment in working order.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Under supervision, she/he will work on cell cultures, extraction of DNA, RNA, and proteins, RT-PCR, Western blotting, ELISA, cell sorting, FACS, and epigenetics. She/he will perform a variety of procedures, including proteomic analyses (e.g., sample preparations, implementation of the database), following established protocols and methodologies.
Will assist in maintenance of samples, equipment, and supplies in histology and proteomics labs and may be involved in maintenance of mouse colonies and various in vivo experiments. Will maintain basic records of methodologies and findings in a lab notebook. Will identify unusual findings and report them to the supervisor(s). Will participate in compliance with regulatory agencies and local hospital safety surveys and procedures including radiation surveys and chemical inventories.
Working Conditions
Normal laboratory environment. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, under controlled conditions.

Qualifications
Bachelor of Science required.
Master of Science degree in biological science preferred.
Skills and Abilities Required
Must have a sound understanding of laboratory policies, hospital, state, and federal regulations, experimental procedures and sterile technique, and the ability to perform experiments independently under minimal supervision. Must be well organized, and have good manual dexterity, understand cross-cultural differences, and have good leadership and communication skills.
