Dr. Brian Luna is seeking a Research Lab Specialist to join his laboratory. The focus of the lab is the study of antibiotic-resistance bacterial pathogens. The Research Lab Technician should have extensive work with mice; moreover, preferred experience with mouse tail-vein injections, IP injections, and necropsy procedures. Previous experience with bioinformatics, bacterial genetics, DNA cloning and synthetic biology, and tissue culture experience are desired. Other job responsibilities include:
Conducts research experiments in accordance with laboratory and safety protocols.
Prepares graphs and tables of results and clearly reports them.
Ready infectious bacterial and fungal organisms for experimentation.
Arrange and assemble laboratory reagents, glassware, and equipment for use.
Maintains accurate laboratory records, stocks and maintains laboratory supplies
Practice basic laboratory safety and provides general laboratory assistance to support research activities.
Performs assignments which are non-routine and vary in complexity with minimal direction.
Complies data and computes results for a variety of research procedures, tests and techniques.
This is a grant funded, full-time, fixed term position.
Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree. Master Degree desired
Preferred Experience: Working knowledge of laboratory equipment and research protocols, especially with mice.
Minimum Education: Related graduate study, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
Minimum Experience: 5 years
Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related education and experience in research specialization with advanced knowledge of equipment, procedures and analysis methods and ability to supervise on a regular or project basis
