Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Research Intern to our location in Renton, WA.
We are seeking a Research Intern to support evaluations of innovative interventions and quality improvement initiatives implemented in ambulatory settings across Providence St. Joseph Health. This is a limited duration, 3 month assignment, with the possibility of extension. This is an ideal position for undergraduate student. The Research Intern is expected to perform all duties in a manner that promotes collaboration and reflects the Providence Health & Services mission, philosophy, and core values of respect, compassion, justice, excellence, and stewardship.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Demonstrate an understanding of the research project lifecycle and the principles of good clinical practice and human subject's protection.
Conduct literature reviews and synthesize relevant information.
Conduct data collection through extraction from patient charts and/or interviews with patients and clinic physicians and staff.
Clean data and conduct preliminary analyses using R, Stata, SAS, Python, Excel, or other data analytic programs.
Prepare summary tables and graphs based on data analyses.
Contribute to the drafting and editing of reports, memos, abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations.
Conduct analyses using Stata, R, SAS, or other data analytic programs and visualize data using Tableau, Excel, or other visualization programs.
Track research project progress and maintain tracking systems to facilitate internal reporting.
Organize meetings and conference calls and take minutes; and perform general administrative tasks and other job-related duties as assigned.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Statistics, Economics, Medical/Health Informatics or a related field.
2 years of relevant research or quality improvement experience.
Demonstrated problem solving skills.

Strong written, visual, and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills.
Demonstrated proficiency with standard office software, reference management software (e.g., Zotero), data analytic software (e.g., R, Python,STATA), data visualization software (e.g., Tableau), electronic data capture software (e.g., REDCap), and collaboration platforms.
Strong academic record with coursework in public health, economics, statistics, or related fields.
Knowledge of research process and methods, including best practices for literature review, data collection, management, and analysis.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Master's Degree in Public Health, Statistics, Economics, Medical/Health Informatics or a related field.
Knowledge and experience in clinical or health care services, such as primary care or ambulatory care.
