This position will function as a liaison between the Research Integrity (RI) team and, research community individuals within other MHC departments, business associates and external agencies. Liaison activities include providing education on regulations and Human Research Protection Program/Institutional Review Board (HRPP/IRB) policies, IRB electronic systems technical support, preparation of application materials and instruction on meeting training requirements.


Essential Functions and

Responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative support to the RI department and staff as needed to ensure efficient operation of the department. This will include answering phones, scheduling appointments and arranging travel, compose and type routine correspondence and/or reports, etc.

  • Assist IRB Analyst with processing less complex protocol submissions.

  • Responsible for coordination of research protocol documents of protocols that are approved through commercial IRBs.

  • Arrange and monitor quorum at Board meetings, track IRB attendance, report significant absences.

  • Coordinate IRB meetings and review activities: prepare relevant materials and necessary correspondence in accordance with internal policy and compose regulatory compliant minutes after each IRB meeting.

  • Participate in federal and internal audits and inspections as pertain to the IRB and HRPP department. Must be willing to travel to different location as requested.

  • Maintain filing and renewing of Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) Federal Wide Assurance (FWA) and IRB registration.

  • Assist in activities related to attaining or maintaining IRB Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP) accreditation such as organizing documents, site visit preparation and submission of annual report.

  • Responsible for review of the executed contracts to ensure compliance with the accreditation standards.

  • Assist in education and training on the use of the IRB electronic management system.

Required:

  • Associates Degree in a scientific discipline or a related field

  • 2 years of experience in research

  • Certified IRB Professional (CIP) or will be required within 2 years of employment

OR

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or a related field

  • Certified IRB Professional (CIP) or will be required within 2 years of employment

Preferred:

  • Experience in HRPP or IRB office, clinical research or other human subject protection-related experience
