This position involves the design and development of custom software solutions (mobile and/or desktop applications, web services, APIs, etc.) to meet customer requirements of the Computing and Information Technology Division (CITD). Specific technical activities include evaluating project requirements to determine the best solution for a problem, designing, implementing, testing, and debugging applications in various programming languages, developing associated software documentation, perform software support and maintenance as needed, and other related duties as assigned. Candidates must be able to work independently as well as part of a team, and write clean, elegant code that maximizes functionality and efficiency. Those who are self-motivated, curious, adaptive, and exercise independent thought and judgment are the primary candidates for this opportunity. Candidates should have a desire to stay abreast of changes in technology as it relates to their work, and must be able to evaluate and identify new technologies to support projects. Candidates will be expected to help manage projects, and interface with project customers to define product requirements and provide technology support as needed. Candidates must be able to obtain a national security clearance.
Design, develop, test, support, and document software written in various programming languages (30% ).
Research and integrate various hardware and software components, client-server software architectures, and other 3rd party products with our internally developed solutions. The individual will integrate all of these varying elements into a single seamless product (20%).
Interface with customers to determine software requirements and support the software throughout its lifecycle (20%).
Provide project oversight and help manage a software development team (20%).
Perform other duties as assigned (10%).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Knowledge of special equipment or computer software used in the field of research.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
