The Risk Technology team builds systems to support risk measurement, risk reporting, risk guidelines monitoring, and risk research for teams across Balyasny. The team's major clients include the Risk Department, Portfolio Managers, the Client Relationship Group, and Senior Firm Management.
The team is engaged in a multi-year effort to build next generation risk systems, support new business development through modeling of new asset classes, and contribute to the overall growth of the firm. The Research Engineer will work with the Risk Research and Management teams to transform research initiatives into high performance risk systems. The engineer will take responsibility for the overall design of the Python-based solutions, including the design and development of interfaces and core utilities to allow users to interact in various ways with risk information.
The engineer will be responsible for deploying services based on these interfaces to a cloud-based architecture. The engineer will work directly with risk team, gain exposure to the latest risk research, and have or develop expertise in fixed income markets. The engineer should be a self-started, creative thinker, and a strong team player that is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications7+ years software development experience in financial services industry, preferably in fixed income asset management
Deep expertise in developing production quality scalable applications in Python Expertise in working with large scale data sets, including storage, transmission, and transformation
Strong understanding of SQL and database technologies
Self-starter who can work independently and be able to drive a project from inception through delivery
Degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or closely related field
Experience working with time series data sets, a significant plus
Experience with cloud-based technologies such as S3, Kubernetes, and Docker, a plus
