The UW Institute on Human Development and Disability (IHDD) has an exciting opportunity for a part-time (50% FTE) Research Dietitian 1 (NE S CNU). IHDD aims to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment to the children and families it serves.

This position provides disciplinary and interdisciplinary training in nutrition for trainees in the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities at the University of Washington (UW LEND). UW LEND prepares trainees from a variety of disciplines to be future leaders serving and advocating for the disability community. Our mission is to develop a workforce of leaders who represent the communities we serve. In addition, this position provides consultation to community agencies that provide services for children with special health care needs.

This Research Dietitian position will provide clinical nutrition services to children with special health care needs and develop and implement research studies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide clinical nutrition services to children with special health care needs.

Collaborate with the Nutrition Discipline Leader and other Clinical Training Unit (CTU) faculty and staff in the development and implementation of the LEND training program.

Work with the Nutrition Discipline Leader in the recruitment, selection, orientation, training and evaluation of medium- and long-term trainees.

Provide nutrition consultation to community agencies that provide services for children with special health needs, including Title V agencies.

Plan, implement, and evaluate workshops for nutrition personnel who provide services to children with special health needs.

Participate in nutrition-oriented clinical studies of individuals with special health needs. Duties include development and implementation of the nutritional aspects of research studies, data collection and evaluation, and establishment of systems for recording and maintaining research data.

Participate in academic courses by providing lectures.

Collaborate with nutrition staff in developing and maintaining nutrition discipline relationships with community nutrition resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelors degree in dietetics or food and nutrition, completion of American Dietetic Association approved dietetic education program, and two years experience in clinical dietetics or equivalent. A Master's degree in dietetics or foods and nutrition may be substituted for one year of experience as a clinical dietician.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A graduate degree will be highly preferred.

2+ years of experience in clinical work with children and families; administration; teaching in a health setting; consultation.

Experience evaluating and providing nutritional services for children with special health care needs.

Experience should, if possible, encompass the public and private sectors of health care.

Experience in an interdisciplinary program.
