Job Description and Duties

DSH-Napa, Standards Compliance Department is seeking a full-time, permanent Research Date Specialist II (RDS-II). The position is assigned to the Standards Compliance Data Management Unit and will participate in the capture, development and analysis of healthcare data. The RDS-II will use established research and statistical methods to synthesize a variety of data produced by the Department of State Hospitals to inform hospital leaders of the status of complex operational and treatment processes.

Founded in 1875, Napa State Hospital is the only state hospital in Northern California for persons struggling with severe mental illness. Classified as a low to moderate security facility, the hospital has a bed capacity to treat up to 1,362 patients on an attractive campus with treatment units located on 138 acres. Staff is dedicated and committed to delivering high quality, cost-effective, professional services and specialized programs in an environment that promotes continuous improvements in treatment for individuals with mental disabilities.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Desirable skills: Data management, project management, presentation & preparation of aggregate data, facilitation, and collaboration of multiple levels within a health care organization for the purpose of identifying data management needs.

Data mining and warehousing. The ability to program and develop data management tool.

Desirable knowledge: Components of a Healthcare Record, Hospital Operations, Standards and Regulatory requirements and potential data to capture for identification of compliance with regulations; patient safety and performance improvement processes.

Working knowledge of SQL and/ or Tableau is desirable. Data privacy and security regulations

Expertise in MS Word and MS Excel are desired.
