Job Description and Duties
Are you an experienced Geographic Information Systems (GIS) professional? Do you want to work with a dynamic and talented team of scientists and land managers? If so, CDFW has a great opportunity for you!The Biogeographic Data Branch is recruiting for one Research Data Specialist I GIS position.
Under the general direction of the Biogeographic Data Branch Research Data Manager, the Research Data Specialist I will be assigned to work in the Lands Program within the Wildlife Branch in Sacramento and will perform the following Geographic Information Systems (GIS) duties:
Lands Program on-site GIS duties - act as the lead GIS specialist for the Lands Program.
Wildfire Resiliency Initiative support - compile data and provide analysis on projects to reduce wildfire risk
Lands Program GIS Coordination and Collaboration - work with Regional GIS and scientific staff to coordinate efforts related to lands management.
Wildlife Branch support - provide secondary onsite GIS support to the Wildlife Branch under the direction of the lead Wildlife Branch GIS specialist.
Position may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule depending on operational needs.
This position is posted in the following counties: Yolo and Sacramento. You only need to apply to one county.

Working Conditions
Ability to work at a desk using a computer keyboard several hours a day. Involves sitting most of the time, but may require walking or standing.
Attend meetings, work with staff statewide to complete work assignments. Occasional travel is required within the state of California via private or public transportation (i.e. automobile, airplane, etc.). Travel may include overnight stay.
