About the College of Research
The Strategic Programs & Initiatives (SP&I) department in the University of Cincinnati Office of Research provides the critical infrastructure that UC faculty and students require to take their ideas to the next level; collaborate freely across colleges and disciplines; fuse fruitful research partnerships with clinical, government, community, and corporate partners; and be more competitive for high value awards and fellowships recognized as particularly prestigious by the Association of American Universities (AAU), the Top American Research Universities (TARU), and the Center for Measuring University Performance (CMUP). SP&I advances scientific exploration, creative expression, and the production of new knowledge.
Job Overview
A Research Data Analyst is a professional who uses information combined with mathematical and analytical methods to help organizations solve problems and make better decisions. In this instance, the application area is in Research Advancement. This position will be responsible for analyzing research opportunities in support of research leadership making data-driven strategic decisions.
Essential Functions
Enhance Information Modeling, Simulation, and Visualization
Design, develop and/or maintain a research-focused information database, including integrating data from existing University and departmental data systems.
Perform statistical and/or mathematical programming.
Assist with various tasks associated with assessment studies, analysis, and evaluation of academic and non-academic topics.
Conduct survey research analysis, including administration and logistics, compilation of data results, and presentation and visualization of results.
Assist in peer institution analysis and benchmarking activities through querying state and national databases.
May provide low-level departmental IT support and serve as a liaison to other units/offices.
May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.
Required Education
Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field such as Engineering, Statistics, Math, Computer Science or related field.
Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Required Experience
Three (3) years of experience in managing large data sets, analyzing statistical techniques and software, and reporting data in a meaningful format.
