Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of Administrative Predictive Analytics Manager (Staff Services Manager I), the incumbent will perform statistical work which includes: developing in depth analysis on Workforce Capacity studies and creating Workforce Capacity models; researching, collecting, completing and analyzing surveys that include compensation for classifications at various levels; conducting literature searches using industry best practices, assisting in the identification of metrics, organizing, merging, and analyzing data using appropriate statistical techniques; building and enhancing data visualizations such as dashboards with use of Business Intelligence tools; Cost Benefit Analysis for major projects; writing project summaries, executive summaries, research reports, fact sheets in support of leadership initiatives.
The incumbent will have the following responsibilities:
Translate business problem statements into practical hypothesis.
Identify relevant statistical and modeling methods to study historical trends.
Gather, compile, and provide analysis and interpretation of data in support of data projects.
Extract, prepare and organize data sets for modeling and analytical consumption.
Suggest and evolve a variety of numerical models and evaluate their performance.
Perform ad hoc analyses on demand to understand ongoing business issues.
Create and maintain documentation of all analytical work during the project.
Work with Analytics managers and other analysts on model evaluation and review exercises.
Effectively communicate analytical processes and results (e.g., oral and written presentations).
Perform data quality checks to ensure high accuracy and integrity of modeling input data.
Desirable quantitative and qualitative skills:
Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and writing skills.
At least one year experience building numerical models or at least 3 years of progressive work experience in financial services or related areas.
Advanced computer skills especially in MS Excel (e.g., formula/validation statements, charts/graphs, macros, etc.) and various databases, including data applications and management.
Intermediate experience with Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI, MicroStrategy, Tableau, etc.
Expert level proficiency using Microsoft Suite, e.g., Word, PowerPoint or equivalent.
Understanding of database concepts; reason logically and creatively to analyze and explain data.
Develop statistical methodologies and assumptions.
Strong oral and written communication skills; present information and results of research using a variety of applications.
Establish and maintain project priorities; analyze situations accurately and take effective action.
Work professionally with other public and private entities.

Telework may be available and is subject to change based on State Fund guidelines and business needs. Candidates must reside in California to be eligible for this appointment.
