Research & Data Analysis Lead - Corporate Support

Crawford, Murphy & Tilly, Inc. (CMT), named a Zweig Group's "Best Firms to Work For." is a consulting firm with a team of engineers, planners and other related design professionals is actively seeking to add a talented Research and Data Analysis Lead to our Corporate Business Unit. This position is responsible for leading and completing special projects in support of the four operational business units. These projects will include researching innovative design methods and construction practices as well as promoting the use of machine learning and generative AI across CMT. This role will be complementary to the design processes within the operational units and will work closely with the existing technology team and development staff.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Data Analysis: Conduct thorough data analysis using statistical methods and tools. Interpret complex data sets and provide actionable insights. Develop and implement data collection systems and other strategies to optimize statistical efficiency and data quality.

  • Data Modeling and Visualization: Create and maintain advanced statistical models for predicting and analyzing trends. Develop and implement data visualization tools and dashboards to present data-driven insights to stakeholders. Utilize tools such Power BI, or others to create compelling visualizations.

  • Database Management: Work with databases to retrieve, store, and manipulate data. Collaborate with database administrators to optimize database queries and performance.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and objectives. Communicate findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Programming and Machine Learning: Use programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL for data analysis tasks. Apply machine learning algorithms for predictive modeling and other analytical tasks. Stay up-to-date with advancements in machine learning and data science.

  • Continuous Learning/Research: Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in civil engineering and public infrastructure construction. Attend conferences, workshops, or training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.

  • Project Management: Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. Define project requirements, scope, and objectives.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)

To execute responsibilities, researchers/data analytics engineers should possess the following KSAs:

  • Excellent technical skills in data research, data analysis and machine learning.

  • Relevant knowledge of discipline-civil engineering practices to allow for effective research

  • Advanced analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge of data security and quality assurance procedures

  • Advanced communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to design and utilize SQL databases and analysis tools for research projects

  • Strong project management skills

  • Proficient software skills in Microsoft Office Suite including Power BI

Education & Experience

  • Master's degree is required.

  • Professional license or certification is preferred, or attainable within 4 years.

  • Four years of progressive research and data analysis experience is preferred. Experience can include collegiate research projects.
