Responsibilities*

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY

The Center for Sexuality and Health Disparities (SexLab) at the University of Michigan, School of Nursing (UMSN) is seeking a Research Coordinator who will work with a faculty Principal Investigator (PI) from the Department of Systems, Populations and Leadership on their grant. The Research Coordinator will be part of a project examining HIV prevention needs for men living in rural areas of the Southern U.S. Duties in this position include three main areas: a) formative qualitative research that will involve: recruiting research participants with online methods, conducting qualitative interviews and focus groups online, coding qualitative data: b) quantitative survey that will involve: programming surveys into Qualtrics, launching and managing an online survey and c) app-development: using the data from the first two phases, work with an external developer on the content and logistics for an app focused on HIV prevention.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate participant recruitment, enrollment and data collection for qualitative & quantitative data.

  • Develop, implement and manage online recruitment strategies.

  • Coordinate meetings of project personnel.

  • Responsible for incentive payment process.

  • Responsible for processing IRBs and IRB compliance.

  • Other duties as assigned or required for the research project.

Required Qualifications*

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • A bachelor's degree in a health-related field is required.

  • A minimum of three (3) year's work experience in a clinical research related field is required.

  • Candidate must have excellent communication skills, with the ability to receive and convey information clearly and concisely for various mediums. You will be expected to have solid interpersonal and organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.

  • Demonstrated proficiency at the intermediate level with Microsoft Office products (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).

  • Candidate should have experience working with the LGBT community.

  • Experience with online recruitment of research participants.

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision with diverse teams of people in a diplomatic, collaborative and effective manner.

  • Experience with reporting software and interpreting analysis.

  • Demonstrated project, time management and relationship building skills.

  • Demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skills with analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work well under time constraints and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to serve diverse populations.

  • Candidate must demonstrate a high degree of initiative and resourcefulness.

  • Experience in designing advertisements for recruiting participants is preferred.

Work Schedule

Shift/Hours/Days: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; may include some occasional weekend and/or evening hours.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Supervision is received from the PI.

This is a term-limited position due to salary funded on a grant.
