Job Summary:

The Research Coordinator serves as a project manager for a NIH-funded study investigating family media use, parent wellbeing, and child development. Key job duties include recruiting and screening participants from diverse backgrounds, scheduling and conducting Zoom meetings with participants, training undergraduate research assistants, tracking participants? progress through the three timepoints of the study (initial 3 weeks and 6- and 12-month follow-ups), documenting processes and procedures, and providing administrative support to the principal investigators and graduate research assistants as needed. The ideal candidate is a creative and flexible problem-solver who is enthusiastic about the research topic: understanding how families with young children lead happy, healthy lives in a complex, digital world.

Responsibilities:

Supports the development, design, and implementation of research projects according to plans, under the general direction of faculty and/or senior research personnel, following established protocols and guidelines to support and advance research in a given field under general supervision.

  • 50% Assists with conducting experiments or interviews, collecting and analyzing data, and documenting results according to established protocols
  • 5% Assists in composing and organizing research reports and manuscripts to provide updates on unit objectives
  • 5% Schedules logistics and secures resources for research supplies, equipment, and facilities
  • 40% Maintains organization of research records according to established policies and procedures

Education:

Required

Bachelor's Degree

Degree focus in Human Development, Family Science, Psychology, or a related field.

Qualifications:

The Department of Human Development and Family Studies seeks candidates with:

  • Rigorous attention to detail

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills

  • Comfort interacting with research participants through phone and video calls

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and as part of a team

Well qualified candidates will have:

  • Prior experience with online data collection in human subjects research

  • Prior coursework in social science research methods and/or statistics

  • Project management experience or certification

  • Proficiency speaking and writing in Spanish

Work Schedule:

Typical schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday. Schedule to be determined by employee and supervisor upon hire.

Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 75% - 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location. It may be possible for this position be fully remote.

Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 14 month appointment.

This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding

Salary:

Minimum $22.00 HOURLY

This position is currently scheduled to end on August 30, 2025, however, it may be possible this position could be extended beyond that date depending on the need an budget of the department.
