Job Description Summary:

The Program on Extremism at George Washington University's provides analysis on issues related to violent and non-violent extremism. The Program spearheads innovative and thoughtful academic inquiry, producing empirical work that strengthens extremism research as a distinct field of study.

The Program aims to develop pragmatic policy solutions that resonate with policymakers, civic leaders, and the general public. To achieve these objectives, the Program brings together a unique team of experts from various continents and a range of disciplines, including government officials with experience in public safety and law enforcement; scholars; former extremists; counter-extremism practitioners providing firsthand assistance to families grappling with radicalization.

This position performs research and provides enhanced support to research centers/institutes at the university, to include data collection, annotation, report generation, and outreach. This position typically reviews, summarizes, and analyzes academic research, creates presentation materials, drafts reports, and develops research proposals for grants.

This role performs tasks in support of the day-to-day running of the coordinating center/institute, including administration and logistics, maintenance of study documents, assistance with data quality procedures, and interaction with the coordinating center/institute staff, as well as the national study group. The position typically assists in evaluating research methods, procedures, and techniques based on established objectives.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a BA/BS in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

Requirements Clinical Research Coordinator I - Georgetown University Medical Center The Clinical Research Coordinator I (CRCI) is responsible for acting as primary coordinator on multiple transplant (liver, kidney, pancreas, bowel) and GI clinical research studies, under the oversight of the Principal Investigator (PI) and direct supervision of the Director. Given the role is an entry level position, personnel will coordinate low to moderate complexity studies and advance to higher complexity studies with more tenure in the department. The role involves supporting the research on-call rotation amongst the research team to support transplant surgeries and enrollments. Under the supervision of the Director who will delegate appropriate tasks, the CRC I has duties including: Study Management * Provide primary and back-up support to coordinate multiple low to moderately complex industry-sponsored and/or non-industry sponsored studies conducted at GUMC. * Assure participants are managed compliantly through the protocol and visits occur within specified windows. * Schedule study visits including ancillary departments as needed. * Assure the back-up coordinator is well-versed and trained on the Protocol in the event the primary coordinator is unavailable. * Under supervision of the Director/mentor identify adverse events and serious adverse events and work with the PI to assess severity and relatedness, reporting the events appropriately and efficiently to sponsor and the IRB. * Assure source documentation is attributable, legible, contemporaneous, original, and accurate. * Maintain a master regulatory file including required regulatory documents such as the FDA Form 1572, IRB correspondence, originally-signed informed consent forms, etc. * Coordinate on-site or remote study monitoring visits; support the PI in the event of an FDA inspection. * Assure OnCore is updated per institutional policy and that internal GUMC/ departmental invoicing practices are current. Attend internal orientation to study budget meetings and quarterly budget reviews as scheduled. * Liaise with sponsor regarding site management, including data management and query resolution in a timely matter. * Maintain consistent and clear communication with Principal Investigators and sponsors/CROs. Study Enrollment * Identify and screen potential research participants to determine initial eligibility and interest in participation, while maintaining privacy protections. Vet eligibility with the PI or Sub-Investigator prior to enrollment. * Consent participants according to MGUH policy as well protocol guidelines. * Schedule screening tests/procedures and study visits per the protocol and MGUH practices. Study Initiation * Complete the initial IRB submission (in conjunction with the regulatory coordinator, as applicable) of the protocol, informed consent form (ICF), HIPAA documents, and other study-related materials. * Coordinate study start-up with needed GUMC ancillary departments such as the Clinical Research Unit, Lab, Radiology, etc. GUMC/Department * Comply with all GUMC and clinical trial management policies, assuring compliance with medicare clinical trials billing procedure. * Assure sponsor and institutional training is current, including CITI, COI, IATA, University Lab and Biological Safety training, MedStar required mandatories, and EHS work status is updated annually. * Attend a minimum of 6 GUMC research meetings each year. Study Closeout * Verify all participant visits are complete and all associated safety reporting has been done, including adverse event reporting. * Assure data entry and query resolution is complete, source documentation is current. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree preferred or Associate's degree with 1 - 2 years experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. * Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. * Excellent demonstrated interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. * Strong proficiency in Microsoft, google, data capture systems, electronic medical records, and other computer applications.
