Nvelop Therapeutics is based in Cambridge, MA.Position OverviewThe ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with relevant techniques such as library preparation, nucleic acid quantitation, qPCR, genomic DNA and RNA isolations, and Illumina sequencing, and will have the capability and desire to learn and apply new experimental methodologies.  The drive to execute is crucial to move us forward, and experimental rigor and scientific curiosity are key aspects of our culture!  Working closely with their supervisor, the candidate will contribute to the design of experiments, execute and document experimental work, perform laboratory support work as needed, and contribute to data analysis and communication of experimental results.

Responsibilities

    • Extract DNA and RNA from many sample types; optimize extraction methods for new sample types/workflows as required
    • Perform all aspects of NGS library preparation, including amplicon sequencing methods, RNA-seq, scRNAseq, etc.
    • Working with supervisor, select the most suitable methodology, and contribute to the design of experiments
    • Independently set up and prepare routine experiments as directed
    • Execute protocols of non-routine experiments with supervision as needed
    • Perform calculations, record and document data, analyze data using scientific and statistical methods, and communicate results
    • Lab administrative responsibilities including ordering and tracking of laboratory supplies, preparation of lab reagents, chemicals, instruments and equipment for use

Qualifications

    • Masters degree with 0 - 2 years of experience or bachelor’s with 0 - 4 years of experience in the biotechnology industry and a background in genomics or molecular biology
    • Hands on experience with DNA / RNA Isolation, amplicon PCR, library construction, Illumina sequencing, dPCR, and qPCR are preferred
    • Experience with Mammalian cell culture is preferred
    • Strong problem-solving skills are a must
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team are required
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment
    • Experience operating liquid handlers (Hamilton, Biomek, Tecan etc.) and other automated devices as part of NGS library prep workflows is preferred but not required
    • Excellent organization skills, communication skills, and computer literacy
Additional Requirements:Full time in-person work is necessary for our laboratory-based positions. We work in facilities that require that all individuals working on-site are vaccinated for COVID-19.
