Summary

The University of Michigan School of Nursing provides national and international leadership in research, education and service. Geoffrey Hoffman, PhD, from the School of Nursing, is seeking a Research Associate to provide research support for an NIA grant focused on Medicare Advantage and older adult health care outcomes. The Program Manager will work in close partnership with the PI (Hoffman), grant co-investigators, and graduate students and will be responsible for research activities that support the goals of this and related projects.

The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, survey research experience, an understanding of data interpretation, and the ability to support multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy, efficiency, and collaboration. This position will report to the PI (Hoffman). Overall, the Research Associate will be a key contributor to the grant and related research projects and will help to improve the efficiency and impact of this important work. This role is hybrid with onsite expectations in Ann Arbor, MI.

This is a part-time, term-limited position due to salary funded on a grant.

Responsibilities*

This position involves a wide range of tasks involving research support for grant-related and other work such as organizing team meetings, supporting manuscript development and submission to journals, communicating with team members (other researchers, data analysts, and students), assisting with grant progress reports, contributing to dissemination and promotion of published materials, working on Data Use Agreements. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide support to team members (researchers, analyst, students)

  • Communicate with team members and others and maintain strong relationships

  • Manage time in an effective yet flexible manner to meet team needs

  • Conduct literature reviews and other background research to support the grant and other research projects

  • Help draft and edit manuscripts

  • Contribute to peer-reviewed publications and presentations

  • Submit manuscript for peer-reviewed publication

  • Contribute to development, dissemination, and promotion of research products

  • Complete grant progress reports

  • Assist with Data Use Agreement and other research applications

  • Completion of other tasks as assigned

Desired Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Behavioral Science, Psychology, Public Health, Social Work, Data Science) is required,

  • One (1) to two (2) years of relevant work experience in human subject research.

  • Medical or health services research experience/background with understanding of health policy and health conditions preferred.

  • Candidate must have excellent communication skills, with the ability to receive and convey information clearly and concisely for various mediums.

  • Experience managing a project including research grants

  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously

  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and resourcefulness

  • Ability to work with diverse teams in a collaborative and effective manner

  • Excellent computer skills, including demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.
