The UNL Economics Lab at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Neb., is seeking a skilled, motivated individual for a predoctoral Research Associate. The Research Associate will work closely with associate professor Daniel Tannenbaum, assistant professor Brenden Timpe, and PhD candidate Rebecca Jack on projects studying the relationship between firms, job amenities, and parenthood in the evolution of the gender earnings gap in the United States.

The successful applicant will gain experience working with large-scale, restricted-access datasets and receive mentoring and training from faculty. In addition, the Research Associate will have the opportunity to participate in seminars and other research-oriented activities in the UNL Department of Economics. The position is well-suited to individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in empirical research in preparation for graduate studies in economics or a closely related field. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is home to a Federal Statistical Research Data Center (RDC), and upon attainment of Special Sworn Status, the Research Associate will be asked to assist with analysis of restricted-access data through an ongoing project in the RDC environment.

Responsibilities include cleaning and managing large datasets, implementing data collection efforts, analyzing and interpreting data, conducting literature reviews and other background research, actively participating in lab meetings, including interaction with undergraduate research assistants, and drafting project reports and other research documents.
