Position Summary:

The Research Associate (RA) will have experience in assay development, particularly involving immuno-affinity based methods as well as a hands-on familiarity with working with nucleic acids. This position provides a wonderful opportunity to participate in an entrepreneurial company growth with personal and professional development. This position requires an individual with an entrepreneurial mindset who is adaptable and able to fill different roles and responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in a variety of protein detection and analytical methods, will be highly organized with an eye for details, and will have excellent communication skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execution of protein-based assays including ELISA and other protein detection methods.

  • Developing work routines including automation and standard operating procedures.

  • Support in-house development of immuno-assays to be validated in CLIA setting.

  • Support custom projects for biomarker discovery.

  • Report document results and progress to colleagues.

  • Carry out troubleshooting activities under supervision.

  • Provide writing and technical support for SOPs, protocols, and Statements of Work as needed.

  • Participate in the review and update of existing procedures and develop new procedures as needed.

  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Handbook and follows guidelines regarding safety as outlined in the AWAIR, Chemical Hygiene and Exposure Control manuals in accordance to the job.

  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • BS/MS in life sciences with 3+ years of experience in a molecular biology laboratory or medical testing lab, preferably in the biotech industry.

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in immunoassay development or protein science.

  • Ability to work seamlessly in a team and within an interdisciplinary environment.

  • Self-motivated with the know how to prioritize and schedule multiple concurrent projects.

  • Excellent communication skills and can implement technologies developed from R&D into a CLIA environment.

  • Excellent work ethic with high-level of professionalism and integrity.

  • Experience with antibody validation techniques (strategies), immunoprecipitation, etc.

  • Familiarity with commercial protein immunoassay reagents kits and platforms.

  • Experience with PCR based nucleic acid detection techniques (e.g. qRT-PCR).

  • Experienced with a variety of molecular biology techniques including protein extraction, detection and immunological techniques.

  • Versed in molecular biology and standard immunological and protein methods.

  • Experience with liquid handling automation is a plus.

  • Experience in cancer biology and/or neuroscience is a plus.

  • Prior experience working with biofluids and/or exosomes is a plus.

  • Prior experience working in a regulated environment is a plus.

  • Prior experience in assay automation is also a plus
