Summary of Job Duties:

This position is a Research Associate Professor, a 9-month, non-tenured position working directly in the Justice Research and Policy Center housed in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at UA Little Rock. This position will coordinate the administrative and research responsibilities outlined below and work closely with faculty in SCJC on grant/contract initiatives. Additionally, the Research Associate Professor is responsible for growing the Justice Research and Policy Center's research footprint within the state through research, program evaluation, and building stakeholder relationships. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a related field;

  • Experience with grants/contracts and/or program evaluations;

  • Experience working with local, state, or federal agencies;

  • Experience with technical report writing for agencies;

  • Experience building and maintaining stakeholder relationships.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Experience writing, submitting, securing or leading grants/contracts;

  • 2-3 years of experience on grant management;

  • Experience working with faculty and graduate students;

  • Experience leading team projects.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Administrative:

  • Serve as the SCJC Liaison with the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP);

  • Assist SCJC faculty in preparing ORSP paperwork for new contracts and grants;

  • Serve as the JRAP financial administrator and liaison for financial and operational offices on campus;

  • Develop and maintain databases, spreadsheets, and other fiscal reporting mechanisms for JRAP;

  • Initiate and lead the process of establishing JRAP as an official research center on campus;

  • Promote the research capacity of the SCJC with agency and community stakeholders;

  • Supervise JRAP personnel, if necessary;

  • Other duties as necessary.

Research:

  • Develop, submit, and secure new contracts and grants for JRAP;

  • Collaborate with SCJC faculty on new and continuing contracts and grants;

  • Assist SCJC faculty on developing, submitting, and securing new and continued contracts and grants;

  • Effectively manage research projects to include, but not limited to, design implementation, data analysis, report writing, and outcome presentation;

  • Create and implement a strategic plan for JRAP;

  • Other duties as necessary.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

  • Criminal justice research;

  • Program and policy evaluation;

  • Technical writing;

  • Clear and effective communication and presentation skills;

  • Ability to lead and manage a team;

  • Collaboration with faculty, staff, and students.
