Research Associate - Cell Core

Cell Core is responsible for supplying cellular products and critical reagents to support internal development organizations. This role will be responsible for fielding requests for cellular products and managing communications related to coordination and fulfillment of requests. These communications will occur within and between varied company levels and internal organizations. Effective organizational skills will be necessary as the candidate will be responsible for managing the request fulfillment schedule, coordinating operators, and organizing large quantities of data. Experience culturing mammalian cells is strongly preferred.

The Research Associate will assist in cell line passaging and banking in addition to manufacturing engineered T-cell products and intermediate materials in support of Research, Analytical Development, Process Development, and Product Quality. The position will require experimental execution, documentation, data analysis, technical report drafting, and presentation of results. Strong attention to detail and flexibility to work evening and weekend shifts is required.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

B.S. in Biology, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering or relevant scientific discipline with 0-2 years of industry bioprocess experience.

Preferred skills:

  • Mammalian cell culture and cell banking

  • Buffer and cell culture media preparation

  • Experience with cell therapy process development or manufacturing

  • Excellent record keeping and documentation skills

  • Experimental design experience

  • Proficient use of MS Office products and working knowledge of statistical software (R, JMP).

  • Experience writing Excel macros and knowledge of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)

  • Ability to meet deadlines, adapt to rapid changes, and work in a fast-paced team environment

  • Strong prioritization skills

Responsibilities The Duerr Clinical Trial Group in the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Research Division is recruiting a Research Associate to work on a project related to HIV. HIV incidence remains high among men who have sex with men (MSM) in Perú, and has not significantly changed despite the scale-up of antiretroviral treatment access over the last decade. New strategies are needed to increase access to HIV testing and promote timely linkage to treatment and prevention services in this population. In this project, we will develop, refine, and conduct feasibility testing of a multi-component intervention to support HIV testing and linkage to services among MSM in Perú. Analysis will focus on cost-effectiveness of this approach and epidemiologic analyses of data from study participants. The candidate will be expected to produce manuscripts for publication as well as grant applications. The candidate must be responsible, organized, and self-motivated, and able to efficiently manage time and experiments. In addition, the candidate must be familiar with working with clinical trials, as well as infectious agents. Qualifications * An MD in Infectious Diseases is required. * The candidate must show initiative, the willingness to take up new skills and responsibilities, and be a team player. * Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently are essential to success in this position, as are good communication and organizational skills.
