Position Overview

Parker Executive Search is looking for a Research Associate to join its higher education practice. Working with the Vice President of our higher education practice, Principals, and Associates, the Research Associate will have a chance to assist with executive searches for senior leaders of colleges and universities, including searches for presidents, provosts, vice presidents, deans, directors, and chairs of departments.

  • Conduct comprehensive research on clients and target institutions
  • Develop thorough and targeted search strategies
  • Conduct candidate research and identification
  • Assist in candidate sourcing and name generation
  • Initiate background screening and provide data management
  • Successfully assist with the management and execution of searches utilizing the firms proven search process
  • Effectively communicate with clients, candidates, and internal team members
  • Successfully complete assignments on schedule


The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and leadership skills and be results oriented. This person must be a self-starter who requires little direction and possesses strong communication and organizational skills. A Bachelors degree is required.

Some travel is required ~ 10%. Associates work in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment and are required to be forward thinking and entrepreneurial.

VIEW JOBS 1/13/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-13T00:00 Job Purpose: Assist the Director of Research Security to provide oversight, management and administration of an institute wide industrial security program that includes field offices servicing the varied constituencies of the Georgia Institute of Technology (GT) as it relates to research & development efforts. Provide advice and support to the Research Security in overall vision and strategy of security initiatives at GT. Responsible for setting employee and/or group goals, deciding on organizational structure to meet the goals, assessing employee and/or group performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. Major Responsibilities: * Coordinate and communicate security policy and procedures with lab management and support functions; foster trust, mutual respect and collegiality with all faculty and staff. * Provide assistance to the Director in strategic and daily management/administration of industrial security program. * Guide and mentor security professionals to ensure fair and balanced opportunities for job growth within Research Security. * Facilitate an effective and efficient security education program across all mediums that include but not limited to in-residence, on-line, quarterly newsletter, posters, building monitors, lab leadership meetings and other forms of communications to reach cleared and uncleared GT/GTRI personnel. * Collaborate with security professionals in the application of a self-inspection program that is impactful and instills confidence in government sponsors that GT/GTRI is protecting sensitive and classified information. * Conduct routine analysis of secure space construction and apply best practices based on government regulation. * Perform other related duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications: * Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience * Work Experience: Eight to ten years job related experience * Certifications: DoD Security Clearance - Top Secret level * Skills: This job requires working knowledge of security program organization and management as applied within an institutional research environment and includes in depth knowledge of all applicable Federal security laws and regulations. Skills in communications, strategic planning, supervision and customer service are required as is the use of office and specialized computer applications. Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills. Working knowledge of NISPOM, DoD Joint Special Access Program Implementation Guide (JSIG) and applicable Intelligence Community Directives (ICD). Preferred Qualifications: * Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field or equivalent combination of education and experience * Preferred Work Experience: Ten years job related experience * Preferred Certifications: Industrial Security Professional (ISP) through the National Classification Management Society (NCMS) or Certified Protection Professional (CPP) through the American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS) International * Preferred Skills: Microsoft (MS) operating systems, MS office suites, Security Information Management System (SIMS), Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS), Industrial Security Facility Database (ISFD), Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing (e-QIP), Secure Web Fingerprint Transmission (SWFT) and Electronic Facility Clearance (eFCL) database. Additional Information: Impact & Influence: This position will interact on a consistent basis with: internal and external customers who are, but not limited to; engineers, scientists, administrative support, laboratory management, senior GT and Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) management, government program managers and vendors. This position typically will advise and counsel: all cleared and uncleared GT/GTRI personnel on security and administration regulations, policies and procedures.
