The Heath lab is seeking a Research Associate. This role utilizes various lab techniques and procedures to collect data in support of experiments, and may be responsible for specific areas of research in collaboration with a scientist or other technicians assignments.

Essential Functions:

  • Protein expression & folding

  • Perform protein purification using FPLC techniques

  • Conduct His-tag protein purification

  • Process human blood into plasma and PBMCs

  • Culture mammalian and bacterial cells

  • Proficiently operate basic tissue culture instrumentation

  • Execute basic research plans and studies utilizing established scientific methods

  • Keep detailed records of observations in lab notebooks & prepare technical reports

  • Purchase lab supplies and reagents

  • Responsible for lab maintenance

  • Attend seminars/meetings to enhance knowledge of company objectives

  • Good communication skills

Other duties as assigned


Must be at least 18 years of age. Requires a BS in biology, chemistry or a closely related scientific field plus at least 2 years of directly related experience, preferably in a working industrial, biotech, or academic lab.

Training in bio-safety, SPF facility entry, tank safety and other topics will be required prior to starting work.

Must have good interpersonal and communications skills; able to work effectively with variety of people in a diverse workforce; adaptable to changing work requirements; willing to multi-task; high degree of professional integrity; strong client service orientation.

Work Location: Princeton NJ Summary:, * Support master batch record review ahead of plasmid manufacturing campaigns at CMOs as the technical SME * Support executed batch records review when CMO service level requires * Conduct historical review of plasmid processes and performance data from CMOs to identify areas for process improvement * Demonstrated ability to seek information through literature search * Experience engaging with commercial suppliers to seek information on raw materials, lab equipment, etc. * Experience in supporting GMP product manufacturing * Hands-on experience with molecular biology lab techniques: PCR, E. coli culture, gel based nucleic acid and recombinant protein characterization methods (agarose gel electrophoresis, SDS PAGE), and understanding of additional characterization methods: Sanger sequencing, qPCR, ELISA, LAL * Working knowledge of reactor fermentation, chromatography, UF/DF Required Skills: * B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biology, Biochemistry, or related fields with 0-2 years experience from either industry or academic research lab * Understanding of molecular biology techniques: PCR, E. coli culture, gel based nucleic acid and recombinant protein characterization methods (agarose gel electrophoresis, SDS PAGE) * Self-motivated with strong organization skills to work with multiple work streams * Great attention to detail and demonstrated work accountability in school, research, internship, etc. Please contact me directly if you are interested in learning more about this opportunity or to discuss our referral program if you know anyone that may be interested.
